Few shows are more popular than that of MTV’s ‘Catfish’ which continues to be one of Viacom’s most highly watched and rated shows. Given that, most are likely to be shocked after news hit the wire that a MTV Catfish star died.
Ashley Sawyer, who was featured on the episode ‘Ashley & Mike’ in 2013 passed away at the age of 23, this according to MTV.
“MTV is deeply saddened to learn that Ashley Sawyer has passed away,” the network said in a statement. “Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.”
Ashley recently appeared on a Catfish episode which updated the stories of previously featured persons and it was said she was struggling with addiction at the time. However, her former sober living house says the Alabama native had completed her course, was sober and living on her own at the time of her death.
No cause has been released yet.
Nev has yet to make a comment on the news, but his co-host Max Joseph tweeted out his condolences.
