Guy Hut Interview – Maria Eriksson

From the pages of Esquire to the covers of FHM and Playboy, Maria Eriksson has taken the modeling game by storm. Add in her Master’s degree and love of the Los Angeles Kings and you might just have the perfect woman.

Let’s get to know Maria Eriksson in her Guy Hut interview below:

Tell us some of your current guilty pleasures in music, TV, movies, video games and/or books. What are you watching/reading/playing/listening to at the moment?

Currently I’m re-reading all Paulo Coelho’s books. I love them all! ‘The Alchemist’ is my favourite though I have yet to see the film they made based on the book. I will put in on my to-do list!

Music wise I have the podcast app on my phone so I can listen to the last EDM! I love my DJ’s! Hardwell and Stonebridge are my preferred choices and I usually listen to them when I need a boost of energy!
Tony Robbins also produces amazing podcasts and I listen to them regularly on everything from business development topics to our health – there’s so much one can learn!

I’m not a huge TV watcher but if I do, nature and crime documentaries are my go-to topics. Yes I’m a nerd. My degree was in Science and I just can’t seem to walk away from an integral part of my past.

What song in your playlist is the most embarrassing to admit?

None. Ha ha. Honestly! As I said above I use podcasts so any embarrassing music I would blame on the DJ! Funnily though I’m sure on a recent Hardwell mix I’m sure I did hear MC Hammer!

Do you have any favorite sports teams and/or players?

Living for the past 6 years in the USA I’ve stopped watching or following much of UK sports but on a recent trip to see family I did enjoy a 4-0 win to Manchester United!
I’ve learned to enjoy American sports but I don’t really have any favourites except ice hockey where I’m a Kings fan! Go Kings Go!

You’re stranded on a deserted island – what five things do you bring with you?

A knife, fishing line, fire starters/lighters, tent, cooking pot. I think I may survive a while with those things – I can be pretty practical!

If you could invite any three people, dead or alive, to dinner, who would they be?

My grandparents and dog who passed away so I could have a full family dinner again.

Name one place on your travel bucket list? Where do you want to go that you’ve yet to visit?

Oh my! That’s a really hard question for me! My sole motivation for modeling was stemmed from my ability to get to travel due to my job. I’m lucky that I’ve lived on 4 continents and visited 35 countries through my modeling work over the past decade. However the list of places I’d still love to and haven’t yet visited include Brazil and Japan to name just two!

Tell us one thing about you that most people wouldn’t know.

I’m actually quiet shy.

What is the best and worst thing about modeling?

Getting to travel to me is the best thing about modeling. I’ve been paid to see and experience so many amazing places and this is what has driven me to continue all these years.

The worst thing is either how difficult this job actually is compared to what people realise! Such as fierce competition, no regular income, being alone an awful lot and all the behind scenes work one needs to put in to be successful.
Or it could also be how others prejudge and perceive you. They presume you’re not intelligent or don’t have morals when you couldn’t be further from their preconceived notions.

What is your proudest accomplishment thus far in your career?

In my academic career it has been juggling a full time job whilst completing my Master’s degree.
In my modeling work it has to be my permanent residency status in America. The USA government granted me a green card in 2015 due to my ‘extraordinary ability career’ as a model. I am as proud of my nationwide work on billboards in Costco Stores and in Walmart as I am of my covers of FHM and Playboy if not more so! I’m 35 and still working!

What is your best physical attribute and what is your best personality attribute?

My brain for sure is my best asset, but picking a physical asset I would say my hour glass figure. My waist goes in compared to my bust and hips.
Personality wise I would say my compassion for others, or empathy, is my best attribute. I’m very mindful of others.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
