Jose Fernandez Was Supposed To Pitch For Marlins On Day He Died

As you’ve already heard, Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez was killed Sunday morning in a tragic boating accident.

Nauseating as that news is, its now being reported that Fernandez was originally scheduled to pitch Sunday morning – however – had his start pushed back to Monday evening.

Many are now assuming that had Fernandez still been in line to start the Sunday afternoon contest, he likely wouldn’t have been on a fishing boat in the wee hours of the morning in which he was scheduled to pitch.

As to why the start was pushed back, some have said it was in effort to give the Marlins a better shot at the postseason as it would have allowed Fernandez to face the Wild Card leading New York Mets as opposed to the struggling Atlanta Braves.
