Tyreke Evans: Pelicans Are The Next Golden State Warriors

During Tyreke Evans‘ rookie season with the Sacramento Kings, the former Memphis Tigers talent looked to be the second coming. Since that time though he’s struggled and morphed into more of a secondary player – not that there is anything wrong with that, of course.

Still, he’s the Robin to Anthony Davis‘ Batman, who is probably wondering why provoked the former NBA Rookie of the Year winner to suggest the New Orleans Pelicans are the next Golden State Warriors.

“I don’t see why we can’t do it,” Evans told Sporting News. “We have a great team. I don’t see our team any different from the Warriors. I think we’re right there, even though this is going to be our first year with coach (Alvin) Gentry. If we push each other and work hard, we can make that next step. It’s not going to be easy, but I think we have that chance.”

The Pelicans certainly have a very solid team and there’s no reason to believe, assuming they stay healthy, they won’t compete for a playoff position in the NBA’s very tough Western Conference. But to replicate what Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and the rest of the Golden State Warriors did?

That’s a pretty bold suggestion.
