NFL Rumors: Browns Expected To Sign RGIII

Out with Johnny Manziel, in with RGIII? It’s a move that probably doesn’t have Cleveland Browns fans dancing in the streets of Ohio, but it seems more and more likely to happen. That’s the word from TMZ Sports who reports the Browns and Robert Griffin III are moving closer to a contract.

Griffin spent parts of the weekend meeting with the Browns brass, who struggled to not only keep their own free agents, but also to bring any talent in.

Given that, it’s understandable as to why they are open to taking a chance on RGIII who floundered out with the Redskins.

With Johnny Manziel officially out … the Cleveland Browns are reportedly “moving forward” with plans to replace him with RG3.

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said the team had a “great meeting” with Robert Griffin over the weekend and hailed him as a “tremendous talent and a great young man.”

Now, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, the team is “moving forward on possibly signing [RG3] and that the team is doing its due diligence.”

No word on when the deal is expected to be done.

Of course, it’s been a few years and injuries ago since RGIII was an effective NFL quarterback, so how successful he’ll be with such a turbulent NFL franchise remains to be seen.
