New England Patriots Trade Rob Gronkowski To Tampa Bay Buccaneers Prior To NFL Draft

The 2020 NFL Draft is going to look a lot different this year, considering all of the draft picks are going to be selected from the home offices of NFL personnel scattered across the country. Also looking different? The New England Patriots, who traded former All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkski to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, just weeks after the Florida based team signed Patriots icon Tom Brady.

The deal, which is currently pending a physical, was leaked on social media this afternoon and the Rob Gronkowski trade is expected to be completed later this evening.

As you might recall, Gronkowski ended up “retiring” though never fully committed to staying away from football. There were long standing rumbles about his relationship, or lack of one, with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, which may have played a part in his desire to walk away from football previously.

However, with Tom Brady now firmly entrenched in Tampa Bay and the beloved nightlife of Miami Beach just a short drive across the state, it’s pretty easy to see why Gronk felt like playing football again.
