Aaron Rodgers On Packers Signing Dez Bryant: No Thanks

Dez Bryant

Although the Green Bay Packers could use an extra set of solid hands at the wide receiver position, it doesn’t appear as if former Pro Bowl talent Dez Bryant is the man for that job.

At least not if Aaron Rodgers has a say.

NFL free agency rumors have been heating up in recent days in regards to Dez Bryant’s eventual home, but Rodgers seemingly wants nothing to do with the former Dallas Cowboys star wideout.

New ESPN analyst Jason Witten, a former teammate of Bryant’s with the Cowboys, speculated last week that Bryant will “end up going to the Green Bay Packers.”

On Tuesday, Rodgers was asked about Witten’s prediction, which Witten said was based on Bryant fitting what Rodgers does.

I’m paid to play quarterback, so I don’t make those decisions,” Rodgers said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

“Well, we like young receivers, so I’m assuming that’s the way they’re going to keep going,” Rodgers said. “I don’t know why you’d cut Jordy and bring in Dez, but he’s a talented player. He’s going to end up somewhere. If he ends up here, we’ll obviously welcome him with open arms and get him up to speed as quick as possible.”

Bryant of course has not played up to his previous reputation for a few seasons now, some blaming a poor fit with current Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Others have speculated the former Cowboy has simply lost a step.

Dez Bryant has already turned down a contract offer from the Baltimore Ravens.
