Next time you attend a Formula 1 race, it’ll be a little less crowded because the absurdly popular ‘Grid Girls’ have been fired.
The reason behind the firing? The girls were simply too sexy.
Okay, maybe that isn’t the technical term as F1 stated their “custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms.”
Which is a little odd, considering Formula 1 racing is more than happy to promote rather violent crashes through their social media, but doesn’t want to post pictures of women in short skirts.
I am more than a little upset about the decision to stop F1 Grid girls.. Here are some memories during my time as a Grid girl in Monaco Monte-Carlo that I will cherish forever ?? #f1 #GridGirls #walkongirls #RingGirls #formula1 pic.twitter.com/THZ2B8RW3C

I love my job. I’m respected, paid well & proud to represent the team I’m working for. It’s not right for anyone, let alone ‘feminists’ to judge our job when quite frankly they are putting so many women out of work. Where is the equality & empowerment here? #GridGirls #F1 ?? pic.twitter.com/ookyjB1A8Q

This news follows on the heels of the XFL stating that they will not employ cheerleaders for their upcoming football league, suggesting there is no longer a need for them.
