Have you ever been playing Mario Kart and thought to yourself ‘how cool would this be if it was real’…
Well, apparently, it is.
Sort of.
While there are no used banana peels or torpedo turtle shells at your disposal, there is a race track in Missouri that looks every bit the part of a real life Mario Kart track.
Located in Branson, Missouri and dubbed the Niagara Speedway, racers will be able to live out their video game fantasies when it opens in 2018.
If you thought that go karting was just driving around in circles til you get dizzy and bored, then guess again. If you’re in the US state of Missouri, you probably don’t need Branson Tracks explaining to you, but in the (let’s face it) likely event that you aren’t, then you’re in for a treat.
This is real life Mario Kart, a karting experience that goes on multiple levels, up corkscrews and down ramps, inside and out…well we could go on.
What’s more, you no longer have to be in the Midwest to enjoy it either, as a brand new track is opening up right next to Niagara Falls.
Channel your inner Italian plumber by ploughing around the track at high speeds, racing your mates over up to four levels and over the elevated coaster sections.
They don’t have upside down racing yet, but we bet that there’s an egghead somewhere in Branson Tracks head office trying to crack that one as we speak.
Other tracks at their headquarters in Missouri include a mile-long, four storey wooden track with a full spiral and two mini spirals, more of a self drive rollercoaster than a racing track, a converted mini golf course track with two spirals and a more traditional concrete track with banked curves and elevation changes, so you can race your own miniature Formula One race against your pals.
The Niagara Falls location is due to finish construction before the harsh winter sets in and is slated to open for the start of the tourist season in 2018.
It’ll be known as the Niagara Speedway and will be the largest attraction of its kind in the whole of North America.
The track is the main draw, but once you’re done with the racing, there’s also a 4D motion theatre, simulators and a zombie exhibit.
We can’t wait to get going in 2018 – in fact, we’re starting growing our Mario moustache today. Grab your very own Princess (try to avoid the turtle trying to kidnap her…), your slightly similar looking brother, your even more similar looking nemesis and a bloody great monkey and getting planning a trip.
You’re probably not allowed to throw barrels at other racers, but who knows? There’s only one way to find out…
