One of the most popular captains on Discovery Channel’s highly popular ‘Deadliest Catch’ show suffered an emergency at sea, this according to TMZ.
Sig Hansen, who is the owner and captain of the Northwestern passed out while cameras were rolling in the wheelhouse, but came to a few moments later.
The lifelong fisherman wanted to keep working, but production crew apparently refused to continue and demanded that Sig seek emergency help.
That’s when Sig Hansen was airlifted to a local Alaska hospital.
Sources close to production tell TMZ … Sig and the crew of the F/V Northwestern were at sea, with cameras rolling, when the captain briefly passed out. We’re told Sig brushed it off when he came to, and wanted to keep fishing.
The production crew insisted he get medical attention, and he was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
While it’s not known what happened to Sig Hansen yet, it’s believed the Northwestern captain suffered a heart attack.
