According to Basketball Reference, Allen Iverson made over $150 million dollars during his NBA career – and that’s just from the teams paying him. That didn’t take into account endorsements which were likely pretty impressive from a financial standpoint considering he was one of the most popular players in the league for about a decade.
Needless to say, Allen Iverson made a ton of coin yet the former basketball star has allegedly fallen on hard times over the past few years.
How could somebody who made upwards of $200 million dollars during their career be struggling financially? Well, I’m guessing spending $30,000 to $40,000 dollars every time you visit a strip club would be a way for that to happen.
According to former Philadelphia 76ers teammate Matt Barnes, now of the Los Angeles Clippers, that’s exactly what Allen Iverson would do.
One early lesson came from Iverson, his teammate for half a season in Philadelphia. “Allen was the first guy that showed me how NBA players spend money in strip clubs,” Barnes says. “That guy went. HARD. He’d throw so much money, and this was when I was first in the league, that I used to take my foot and scoop the s— under my chair and either re-throw it or put some in my pocket. He’d throw $30,000, $40,000 every time we went. I’m like, ‘You realize what I can do with this money?’”
A lot of people don’t even make that type of money in a year, let alone to have somebody literally just throwing it in the air.
On the flip side, there are probably a lot of ladies, especially in the Philly area, who are doing quite well for themselves because of AI.
