DeMarcus Cousins: NBA MVP Award Is Mine To Grab

DeMarcus Cousins

The Sacramento Kings look much improved on paper this season with the addition of Rajon Rondo and a healthy Rudy Gay, but how far will they go? Such remains to be seen, though if DeMarcus Cousins has anything to say about it – the Sacramento Kings will be returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2006.

He’ll also be bringing home the NBA MVP award because DeMarcus Cousins says the hardware is his to grab this season.

Per Bleacher Report:

The topic is the 2015-16 NBA MVP award and whether it could be reachable for DeMarcus Cousins.

“Reachable, man?” Cousins told Bleacher Report, his voice rising high. “It’s mine to grab.”

[…]

“To have playoff expectations, it’s an exciting feeling,” Cousins said. “It’s one I’ve never felt.”

Assuming DeMarcus Cousins is able to repeat and improve his numbers from last season, from a statistical standpoint it’s hard to argue. But the MVP award goes to the elite player on the elite team, something the Sacramento Kings are not expected to be.

Regardless, a motivated DeMarcus Cousins is great news for the Sacramento Kings and not so great news for the rest of the NBA.
