The Golden State Warriors have been trying to trade David Lee for quite some time. Today, they finally found a taker in the Boston Celtics who acquired the power forward.
Golden State and Lee mutually agreed that it was time to part ways a day after the Warriors won the NBA Championship and since that time, they’ve both been working to find a deal.
The Boston Celtics, ripe with cap space, decided to take on Lee’s large, though, expiring contract in exchange for a handful of assets.

While Lee might help the Boston Celtics on the court, it’s doubtful he was acquired for anything but to obtain some additional assets (which the Celtics already have plenty of). It’s not known currently if the Celtics plan to keep David Lee on their roster or agree on a buyout, allowing him to join a contender.
What the Golden State Warriors are sending along with David Lee is currently unknown.
Update: In exchange, Gerald Wallace will be traded to the Warriors. No other assets, oddly, involved in the deal.
