There isn’t a single person in an NBA front office that can explain why the Sacramento Kings traded DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans for Buddy Hield, a 2017 first round pick and change.
Actually, scratch that. There is one person.
Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, who according to reports, believes Buddy Hield is soon to be the equivalent of Steph Curry.
Source familiar w/ Kings’ thinking: "Vivek thinks Buddy [Hield] has Steph Curry potential.” Am told that fixation was a key driver in deal.

Ranadive, a former owner of the Golden State Warriors, has long obsessed with his former franchise and has routinely attempted to acquire players who were with the Warriors during his ownership stint, including Klay Thompson and Monta Ellis.
Unable to acquire said players, he went out and got one whom he feels is comparable to former NBA MVP Stephen Curry.
Just when you think the Kings couldn’t be anymore laughable, they shock you yet again.
