Never did I think there would be a time when the Los Angeles Lakers, of all teams, needed to slash ticket prices. But that’s exactly what’s happening, this according to TMZ, who says one of the proudest basketball franchises in the NBA has cut ticket prices and done so significantly.
You may recall, earlier this season, longtime Lakers fan and actor Jack Nicholson suggested he was thinking about giving up his legendary courtside seats because the Lakers were so bad.
Now it’s normal, every day fans like you and I who’ve decided the Lakers losing ways aren’t for them – at least not at the current prices.
Sources inside the Lakers box office tell TMZ Sports ticket prices for the 8 remaining games are the lowest they’ve been all season. For instance, some $400 tickets — right behind courtside seats — are going for $119.
We’re told they’ve priced the tix to move in a last-ditch effort … because “no one is showing up for the games.”
It’s understandable from a fan perspective because it’s not cheap to attend any professional sporting event, let alone a Lakers game. Just the parking itself is nuts.
Given that, the last thing you want to do is watch a bunch of borderline NBDL players play, especially since Kobe Bryant isn’t going to be on the court.
Of course, fans of the Los Angeles Lakers are going to get blasted for being bandwagon, but this is simply something that goes on all around pro sports when a team is awful. It’s just that we’re not used to seeing the Lakers this bad.
