NBA Rumors: Warriors Want To Sign Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki

It’s no secret the Golden State Warriors plan to lure Kevin Durant to the Bay. Of course, nobody knows exactly what the Oklahoma City Thunder star is thinking in regards to his upcoming free agency.

The fact the Warriors lost the NBA Finals to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers could potentially help the Dub’s chances at landing Durant, given it’s clear they’re not yet a ‘dynasty’ in the truest sense of the definition and signing Durant could help put them in such a position.

Still, it seems as if teaming up Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant is a long-shot.

The same can probably be said for Dirk Nowitzki as well, as it’s rumored the Warriors have their interest in the aging Dallas Mavericks talent.

Per the East Bay Times:

Let’s be clear: The Warriors first and foremost still want to clear the decks for a run at unrestricted free agent Kevin Durant.

The Oklahoma City star blots out all other pursuits and his situation this July will put everything else in the league on hold until he decides something.

Nowitzki, also a pending free agent, would be a next-tier discussion for the Warriors, and I’m told they have no idea if he’d be interested in leaving Dallas.

Nowitzki, 38, has said he intends to remain in Dallas, where has spent his entire career … but he has left the door slightly ajar — he’s a little wary of staying in Dallas for a rebuilding process.

It’s hard to imagine either Dirk or Kevin leaving their current basketball homes, though if anybody has the ability to swoop in, you’d think Golden State would top the list.
