It’s no secret the Toronto Raptors could use another big man, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that they’re in the market for an additional power forward/center. That’s the word from Basketball Insiders who says the Raptors being a buyer come the trade deadline is possible.
Toronto seems like a willing buyer on a big man.
Who exactly the Toronto Raptors would have interest in, however, is unknown. The Indiana Pacers have routinely been mentioned as a team potentially open to trading away either David West or Roy Hibbert, though neither are what you would call cheap. There’s also Jason Thompson or Carl Landry of the Sacramento Kings who are said to be available, though only Thompson would be considered a good value contract considering he’s only signed through next season.
Understandably, there aren’t a lot of high quality power forwards/centers available so if Toronto is to pull the plug on such a deal, they’ll likely be getting a complimentary talent. There’s nothing wrong with that of course, though those hoping for an impact player will probably be left with a sour taste in their mouth as even the role players who are likely to be available come with their fair share of warts (namely their contracts).
