Many wondered who the hot golf reporter during the US Open was. The answer? Holly Sonders.
The hot reporter was no stranger to the TV as she’s worked on the Golf Channel and also done football programming in the past, but she was also a new face to many.
A solid piece of eye candy, most probably weren’t paying attention to Holly Sonders’ interviews, but FOX – who broadcasted the US Open – was none too pleased with how things turned out. So sadly, they’ve ‘reassigned’ Holly Sonders.
Sonders faced a hefty dose of criticism after her interview of U.S. Open champion Jordan Spieth last month, and she’s taking on a different role for this weekend’s championship. Sonders will host a half-hour post-match show on Fox Sports 1 on Saturday and Sunday, while Shane O’Donoghue conducts the on-course interviews.
“We’re not reassigning Holly because she did a bad job,” Fox’s coordinating producer Mark Loomis said. “I think Holly’s been great for us. It’s just that she can’t do both the postgame show and the interviews.”
While I very much enjoy playing a round of golf, the only reason I’m probably going to watch any if the first three rounds of a tournament is because of Holly Sonders. Granted, I’d probably watch a final round with or without her, but let’s not kid ourselves here – she’s a draw.
And really – who cares if she asked Jordan Spieth if he had an extra outfit. It certainly wasn’t worth being ‘reassigned’.
