I’ve yet to figure out why athletes have social media accounts, namely because Twitter and Facebook can be pretty cruel places. Such was evident tonight when a Twitter user who goes by the name @JRSkinns decided to tweet at Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat.
The Wiz fan wasn’t very happy with Gortat’s play and suggested that he’s ‘soft’ and no longer plays like he did once he was first acquired by the Wizards.
To his credit, he did tag the Polish big man in his tweet, though he probably wasn’t expecting a response.
He really wasn’t expecting a response like this, in which Marcin Gortat suggested he slept with the dude’s mother.
That sound you hear is the collective panic taking place in the Washington Wizards public relations department, furiously calling Gortat’s cell phone and texting him non-stop to remove the tweet.
Of course, the Wiz star was just having some fun on social media, though might have wanted to tone it down a bit.
In fairness though, if you’re going to dish it, you best be able to take it – something that Twitter user learned the hard way.
