When asked to pick up the full court press as a guard playing basketball, you rely on your teammates to let you know when danger awaits. Sadly for J.R. Smith, his Cleveland Cavaliers teammates didn’t get the memo or simply didn’t care because they let the swingman get absolutely murked by Kendrick Perkins of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It all took place on Sunday evening (after LeBron James and Kevin Durant exchanged words) when J.R. Smith was attempting to press Durant up the court. Everything looked relatively normal until Perkins slid into the backcourt and destroyed Smith’s soul.
Set up perfectly, the stoic Perkins laid in wait until J.R. Smith had no place to go and then POW.
Now, I admit, I have seen some harder screens over the past few years but that was still nasty. I mean look at the shoulders when the two make an impact. You can still feel the tremble.
The impact wasn’t just felt by Smith either as social media decided to have fun with the former New York Knicks guard, much like this:

Poor J.R. Smith. The guy does everything he can to meet his future wife at the game including a daily pre-game shower, yet gets put on blast like that. Tsk, tsk.
