White Sox Rumors: Gordon Beckham Returning To Chicago

Gordon Beckham

The Chicago White Sox made some big strides this offseason with their acquisition of Jeff Samardzija and it appears they aren’t done re-tooling, though this time their interest comes in the form of a familar face.

That’s the word from Chris Cotillo who says the Chicago White Sox and infeidler Gordon Beckham could be nearing a reunion.

A former top prospect, Beckham was shipped out last season and the mere mention of his name on the South Side likely has spines of White Sox fans trembling.

Much of Gordon Beckham‘s issues, at least during the early stages of his career, were due to injury as the second baseman continually found himself on the disabled list for long periods of time. That not only stunted his progression, but had fans extremely frustrated, especially after he was so hyped up by media and those in the White Sox’s front office.

Non-tendered in December by the Anaheim Angels (who acquired him via trade last season), Beckham is sadly one of the better available infielders on the market though would likely be returning to the Chicago White Sox in a greatly diminished role, assuming that to be the case.

For what it’s worth, the Angels did attempt to bring the infielder back but couldn’t agree on a financial number.
