Blue Jays Rumors: Francisco Rodriguez, Rafael Soriano

Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays, after losing Casey Janssen to the Washington Nationals, are looking for back of the bullpen help – specifically a closer. There are names available on the trade market like Jonathan Papelbon, but he’s likely too rich for their blood which is why they’re showing free agent interest in Francisco Rodriguez, Rafael Soriano and Ronald Belisario.

All three pitchers would be a solid addition for the Toronto Blue Jays, though Belisario is likely the least talented of the three. Of course, he’s also the cheapest and the Jays don’t exactly have a boat load of money to spend either.

Given that, you have to wonder if Ronald Belisario is the favorite to land with the Blue Jays.

As for Francisco Rodriguez (K-Rod) and Rafael Soriano, both have received interest from a handful of teams including the Jays, most recently from the Milwaukee Brewers. They however are said to currently be chasing the aforementioned Papelbon, so perhaps the Blue Jays could strike while the iron is hot on both Rodriguez and Soriano.

There’s also the possibility that Toronto could sign a player like Belisario for middle relief help while bringing in K-Rod or Rafael Soriano to help with the back end of the bullpen.
