Kyrie Irving Credits Kobe Bryant For Game Winning Finals Shot

There’s no doubt that Kyrie Irving can score. In fact, it’s just about the only thing he does well. And ironically enough, on the biggest of stages, Irving had what many would call the best stretch of games in his career which capped with what proved to be the game winning shot in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

So who does Kyrie Irving credit with the big basket?

Kobe Bryant.

Wait, what?

Well, maybe not actually Kobe Bryant, but Irving says it was the ‘Mamba mentality’ that allowed him to take and make such a shot.

“All I was thinking in the back of my mind was Mamba mentality,” Irving told ESPN. “Just Mamba mentality. That’s all I was thinking.”

The Cavs aren’t exactly a team that you’d expect to light you up from the three-point line and most Cleveland fans were likely cringing, going ‘no, no, no….yesssss’ after Irving decided he was going to iso against Steph Curry.

Still, it’s going to go down as one of the biggest shots in NBA Finals history in one of the best games in NBA Finals history.

And somehow, the great Kobe Bryant, despite not playing, somehow made an impact in one of the best basketball games we’ve seen this decade.
