NBA Trade Rumors: Mavs, Wizards Interested In Kevin Martin

Kevin Martin

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a significant amount of veteran talent (Mo Williams, Thaddeus Young) who they could end up trading in the next few weeks, though it might be Kevin Martin who’s drawing the most interest.

According to Chris Mannix, multiple teams are showing interest in the shooting guard including the Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards.

Player to keep an eye on before the trade deadline: Minnesota’s Kevin Martin. Martin is owed $14 million over the next two seasons but could be a valuable asset to a team looking for scoring punch off the bench. Dallas, Washington among the possibilities.

Martin isn’t owed all that much money which could make a deal possible, though it’s very unlikely the T’Wolves are willing to adsorb any additional cap load which could prove to be problematic.

Both the Wizards and Mavs (to a lesser extent) have shown interest in Ray Allen, who appears more than willing to take his time regarding his decision to return to the NBA, so Kevin Martin may be a nice consolation prize for one of the teams seeking Allen’s shooting stroke.

It does not appear that any potential trade is imminent though with just a few weeks left until the NBA’s annual trade deadline, it’s likely Martin’s name will be talked about heavily.
