Saw a tweet Tuesday praising the future of Ole Miss baseball, and this came on the day Mississippi State advanced in the College World Series in Omaha with eight runs in the eighth inning of a 12-2 victory against North Carolina.
I’m not going to name the tweeter because I want nothing to do with a pissing match, but I’ll give you the tweet.
@OleMissBSB is going to be really good next year.
What!?!? Why mention the Rebels now!?!?
The rival Bulldogs are 2-0 in the 2018 CWS and one win from reaching the finals.
Sure, Ole Miss this year had one of the best seasons in the history of the program, but the SEC Tournament champions fell 15-5 and 3-2 to Tennessee Tech in a doubleheader in the Oxford Regional on June 4.
The losses ended a 48-win season, tying a school record, and ever since then, Ole Miss fans have agonized over seeing The Team From Down South pull off one walk-off victory after another as one of the biggest underdogs in the NCAA Tournament.
So it’s no surprise State fans ripped the tweet about The School From Up North, and here are five of the responses:
Nah we’re fine with it. Ole Miss fans love the hype and rankings and feed off it – that’s why you’re getting the eye rolls. When it comes to an Ole Miss team actually finishing successfully … well that’s another story.
Kind of like this year and last year and the year before that and the year before that…….
I’m sure it’ll be a great regular season.
They were really good this year and all it got was a front row seat to watch Ms St in Omaha. Biancoball sucks.

The Bulldogs’ next game will be Friday at 2 p.m. CDT against Oregon State.
The Rebels’ next game will be in 2019.
