Bryce Harper Expected To Sign Contract Worth Over $350 Million

Bryce Harper

With Bryce Harper now a free agent, after his contract with the Washington Nationals expired, the Las Vegas native is expected to become one of the richest professional athletes in history. But just how much is the baseball star expected to earn?

At least $350 million. That’s the word from the Score’s Bruce Levin, who says bidding is likely to exceed that figure and likely go overboard, assuming there is a bidding war for his services.

The Cubs will now have the chance to make an aggressiveness pursuit of Harper to create an elite lineup. The bidding for him in free agency will start at 10 years and $350 million.

Harper has averaged 32 homers and 91 RBIs per 162 games played. He carries a career .388 on-base percentage, .512 slugging percentage and .900 OPS. He’s on the front half of his prime, ready with 2019 representing his age-26 season. He has quality baserunning and defensive skills.

So who is the current favorite to sign Bryce Harper? Considering the strain his contract will put on a team financially, only a few will actually have the needed money to make such an offer with the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees believed to be the current front-runners. The San Francisco Giants along with the Boston Red Sox, are also expected to be in the mix.
