Report: Eagles, Jets Likely To Make Marcus Mariota Trade

Marcus Mariota

If Marcus Mariota is on the NFL draft board when the New York Jets’ No. 6 overall selection comes up, it’s expected the Jets and Philadelphia Eagles will make a trade allowing Chip Kelly and company to draft Marcus Mariota.

This isn’t exactly earth shattering news considering there have been rumors linking the Eagles and Jets to a potential Marcus Mariota trade for weeks, but Kristian Dyer reported a trade between the two is very likely assuming Mariota remains on the board.

“Philadelphia would make that move and pay that price. We’re talking multiple picks and a player,” the source told Dyer. “The Jets would be open to moving the pick and the Eagles have internally prepared to move up in the draft. There are contingencies in place and they know that Marcus is that perfect fit.”

Must be nice to hear if you’re Nick Foles, eh?

The Oregon Ducks quarterback of course has history with Eagles head coach Chip Kelly stemming from his time at the university and we’ve already seen Kelly flexing his muscles to acquire players he’s familiar with.

Given that, it seems very possible that Marcus Mariota may indeed be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles come the NFL Draft, assuming a team with a top five pick doesn’t change the course of the tide.
