With Johnny Manziel the future for the Cleveland Browns (though a relatively cloudy future, to say the least), quarterback Brian Hoyer is expected to depart in free agency.
Assuming such is to happen, one team already has eyes on the signal caller, this according to Jeff Darlington who says the Houston Texans will likely target Brian Hoyer.
The Texans are of course in desperate need of a quarterback, though I’m not sure Brian Hoyer is the type of guy many fans had atop their wishlist.
Here’s the spot you should be watching for Brian Hoyer: Houston Texans. Team likes both Hoyer and Mallett — but I get sense Hoyer is target.

While Hoyer did struggle with the Cleveland Browns last season, he did have his moments and pretty much everybody on the Cleveland roster was sub par. That said, Hoyer really isn’t much more than a stopgap type of quarterback and isn’t going to be a guy you’re going to break the bank on. He does have history with head coach Bill O’Brien however when the two were together as members of the New England Patriots organization.
Perhaps the Texans front office isn’t impressed with what they see in free agency and the draft and would rather bite their time with a player like Brian Hoyer, though it’s doubtful to make a restless fan base (or J.J. Watt) very happy.
