MLB Rumors: Giants, Red Sox Talk Allen Craig Trade

Allen Craig

With Hunter Pence likely to miss at least the first month of the regular season and Angel Pagan a walking injury, the San Francisco Giants know they could use some depth in the outfield. Hell, they could use some offense after losing Pablo Sandoval to free agency. The only problem? They don’t want to pay full price for such considering the Giants’ outfield, when healthy, is very solid.

All that said, Brian Sabean and company have been hitting the trade circuit in hopes of finding a replacement and have reportedly inquired about an Allen Craig trade with the Boston Red Sox.

Those talks don’t appear to be ongoing at the moment however because Boston isn’t willing to sell low on Craig, despite hitting a woeful .128 for the Sox in 29 games last season (after he was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals where things weren’t going much better).

Oddly enough, Craig appears to be somewhat of an odd man out with the Red Sox, so it doesn’t appear as if Boston is overly keen on keeping him, but they just want a higher price than the San Francisco Giants are willing to pay.

Perhaps the two sides will open trade talks again.
