Padres’ Derek Norris Calls Giants’ Angel Pagan ‘D***head’

Angel Pagan

On Thursday afternoon, the San Diego Padres opened their home schedule against the San Francisco Giants.

It was a typical National League West showdown involving two of the better teams in the division that played out to a 1-0, twelfth inning victory for San Francisco.

Despite the low scoring though, there were plenty of fireworks, including those between Giants outfielder Angel Pagan and Padres catcher Derek Norris.

With Pagan at-bat during ninth inning in the tied game, the San Francisco star could be seen jawing with the San Diego backstop. Moments later the umpire stopped the two and gave each side a warning before play continued.

Moments later Pagan tripled and was very expressive in his emotions, but sadly for San Francisco wasn’t able to score. Padres pitcher Craig Kimbrel, who got out of the jam, could be seen staring the Giants outfielder down as he left the field.

So what was the problem? Apparently a piece of gum, this according to Pagan, who says when he spit it out bounced under Derek Norris who was none too happy about it.

That resulted in the catcher suggesting Angel Pagan was kind of a ‘d***head’.

The Giants and Padres probably didn’t need any extra fuel to their already tense rivalry, but it seems it’s been added.
