NBA Rumors: DeAndre Jordan Wants Five-Year, $100 Million Contract

DeAndre Jordan

So you want your favorite basketball team to sign DeAndre Jordan, huh?

It’s a good idea, at least on the surface, as the Los Angeles Clippers center is one of the best defensive talents in the league. But is he worth a $100 million dollar commitment? Probably not, but that’s what the big man is seeking.

That’s the word from Yahoo Sports who reports DeAndre Jordan wants a five-year, $100 million dollar contract in free agency this summer.

The Rockets move onto the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference finals, and the Clippers move into the summer with an anvil hanging over the franchise. DeAndre Jordan will become an unrestricted free agent, and it’ll take a five-year, $100 million max contract to re-sign him.

Don’t get me wrong – DeAndre Jordan is a very good player, but $25 million dollars a year? Yes, the NBA is set to expand their salary cap and yes, player salaries will rise but that seems absurdly excessive.

His chances of getting such seem pretty dim considering there are only a few teams with enough cap space for such and of those, none are likely to make an offer even close to that.

Keep dreaming, DeAndre.
