Jeremy Lin: I Was Burnt Out With Lakers

Jeremy Lin

When the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Jeremy Lin in a trade with the Houston Rockets before the 2014-15 season, they likely believed they had obtained their point guard of the future. If at minimum, they found themselves a solid backup.

But Jeremy Lin’s short one season tenure with the Lakers was nothing short of awful as he routinely clashed with head coach Byron Scott.

Now a free agent, Lin says he was burnt out after his tough season with LA.

“As for me mentally, I felt pretty burnt out coming out of this past season. I felt like I gave great effort to play well, play the right way, and maintain the right perspective despite seeing very little fruit. So when the season first ended I felt very…lazy. I know it’s natural to feel worn out after a long year, but I was surprised by how drained I felt and how little excitement I felt to start my off-season training.”

It’s hard to blame him as he was continually roasted and put on blast by many in the organization, though, his play did deserve the criticism as he was one of the worst players in the NBA for about three-quarters of the year.

Lin is expected to depart in free agency, though hasn’t completely ruled out re-signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.
