There are a lot of football fans out there who would not classify themselves as Chris Collinsworth fans. Regardless, he continues to be the color commentator for NBC football broadcasts, though his most recent comment might catch himself in a bit of hot water.
No, he didn’t say anything derogatory about a player or coach. No, he didn’t say anything abusive or racist on air. But he did mention Aaron Hernandez, formerly of the New England Patriots, who were taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2015 NFL season opener.
Immediately upon mentioning Aaron Hernandez’s name, who is currently serving a life sentence, Collinsworth can be heard trying to remove the foot from his mouth, but the damage was done.
I mean really – Tom Brady – Rob Gronkowski – anybody? But you go with Aaron Hernandez?
Not sure why that even popped into his brain, but that was a clear ‘oops’ of a moment.
