Stephen A. Smith Rips Dallas Cowboys: Tony Romo Is Not Elite

Tony Romo

You either love or hate Stephen A. Smith and the same goes for his ‘First Take’ co-host Skip Bayless.

Of course, that’s how both want it as their job is to act polarizing. Keep in mind, I did say act. That’s not to say some of their sports opinions aren’t their own, but it’s clear both men do what they can for shock value, like the most recent discussion had by the ESPN personalities.

During Thursday morning’s ‘First Take’ Stephen A. Smith ripped Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, suggesting he was not an elite quarterback.

He went much further than that though:

“Come January and on, there’s usually a missing person report out for him.”

Ouch.

This all stems from Tony Romo leading an impressive Dallas Cowboys comeback against the New York Giants on Sunday night.

So the question begs – is Tony Romo elite? How many elite quarterbacks are in the NFL? Does the Dallas Cowboys signal caller belong with the Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning‘s of the world (even though Manning probably no longer belongs in such a category). Or is he a notch below?

Either way, he’s better than Stephan A. Smith wants to give him credit for.
