Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Will Have Hard Minutes Cap

Kobe Bryant

Nobody knows if Kobe Bryant will be playing his final NBA season this year, but we do know that the Los Angeles Lakers will give him a minutes cap.

That’s the word from the Orange County Registrar who says the Black Mamba will be given a ‘hard’ cap on his floor time.

This year, Scott said, he will stick to the plan. Bryant’s minutes cap will be a hard cap. And they will decide whether he should play in back-to-backs.

“We’ve got to stick to the guns,” he said. “If we agree on a certain amount of time we’re going to stick to it.”

It’s an obvious and smart move on the part of of the Lakers, though how Kobe Bryant will react to such remains to be seen. You don’t usually tell Kobe what to do – he tells you what to do, even if you’re the Lakers.

So will he actually go through and accept the hard minutes cap? We’ll soon find out – but if he wants to be on the court come March and April, it’s in his best interest to do so.

Making sure Bryant is able to play in most games is far more important than Bryant playing 39-minutes in just 27 contests before he’s forced to the sidelines with yet another injury.
