You don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a memorable date night with your mate. Whether you’re itching for a fun night on the town, or want to take in some art and culture, check out the best free date night ideas when you want to spend some quality time with your significant other in Los Angeles.

Downtown Art Walk:
Every second Thursday, downtown LA transforms into an art mecca, complete with twinkling lights, eclectic music and a diverse crowd. The vibrant scene draws local art lovers looking to take in an authentic visual experience. As you stroll through the Historic Core neighborhood, you have the opportunity to check out iconic galleries, as well as tours, such as the Historic Core Mural Tour.

Movies in the Park:
In both fall and summer, movie in the park events go down several days each week. Pack a romantic picnic basket, grab a cozy blanket and camp out under the stars while you take in classics like The Breakfast Club, The Godfather, Dirty Dancing, and Romeo and Juliet. The locations vary from Griffith Park, to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, so you’re sure to find the romantic scenery you’re looking for.

Grand Central Market hosts a vibrant weekly game night where locals gather to play Scrabble, Cards Against Humanity, Uno, Jenga and other classic, as well as new games. The crowd is friendly and couples competition is a mainstay. Nosh on hand-crafted appetizers, order a drink, kick back and have fun with your date.

Griffith Park Observatory:
Each month the Griffith Observatory features various free special events, from astronomy exhibits, to “star parties” where guests get to try out a variety of high-powered telescopes to look at visible planets and objects in the night sky. The events are held year-round and attract locals and tourists alike.
