So far I would grade the Giants Free Agency moves a B+ ….
Everyone was talking about the Brandon Marshall 2 year, $12 Million dollar signing. I believe this is a high risk, high reward deal for a player who looked like one of the best receivers in football but fell dramatically last season.
In 2015 he had he had 109 catches for 1502 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. Last season he had 59 passes for 788 yards and three Touchdowns.
As far as signing TE Rhett Ellison, I ‘d have to give the Giants a C- on that move. He has steadily declined since his rookie year in 2012 where he was best as a fullback and not a TE for the Vikings.
I do like the signing of OG John Jerry as an unrestricted free agent. He started every game in 2016 at right guard, he has great size, long arms and Giants fans saw him become a more reliable and steady player last season.
I’m sure all Giants fans can agree that we were happy to see the Giants placed the franchise tag on JPP.
Let’s face it, nobody is doing what he does in the league with 7 and a half fingers haha.
The downside of that tender is that it ties up $17 million of the $30 Million salary cap space.
I would like to see the Giants pick up a young healthy RB in the NFL draft and get Eli some protection to have more room in the pocket.
