Alex Rodriguez Thinks He’ll Be Yankees Third Baseman

Alex Rodriguez

Read between the lines and it’s pretty clear the New York Yankees want nothing to do with Alex Rodriguez. Sure, they have to say the right things as not to have a lawsuit on their hands but it’s evident they’d like A-Rod to vanish into the wind.

Of course, we know that’s not going to happen with Alex Rodriguez who has proven himself to be baseball’s version of a bad rash and now he believes he’ll be the New York Yankees’ starting third baseman this season, not Chase Headley.

“Alex’s mind is that job’s not Headley’s, it’s Alex’s to lose,” the source said. “That’s what he thinks. Alex is going into training camp thinking that he is the starting third baseman, that if there’s a competition, Headley’s got to win it from him.”

Understandably the Bronx Bombers don’t want a disgruntled A-Rod on the roster, but it would take a herculean effort for the former superstar to take away Headley’s spot. Perhaps the Yankees will be able to satisfy Alex Rodriguez with some spot starts and a time share at designated hitter but carving out a starting role seems extremely unlikely at this point.

If anything, it’s A-Rod who’s going to have to take Chase Headley’s job, not the other way around.
