Andrew McCutchen Saves Pirates Ground Crew Man Trapped In Tarp

If you live in the Midwest or have ever done so (heck, even if you’ve just visited), you know that summer storms can be downright terrifying.

That’s a lesson that was learned the hard way today for a Pittsburgh Pirates ground crew member who was attempting to help the rest of his squad put down the tarp during a biblical down pour.

Things looked to be going okay and members of the Pittsburgh Pirates defense got off the field so the ground crew could do their thing come the rain delay. That’s when a massive gust of wind entered PNC Ballpark and the infield tarp literally ate a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates ground crew.

That’s when Andrew McCutchen, Sean Rodriguez and a handful of others saved the man trapped in the tarp.

It’s easy to laugh about now after the fact, but I imagine that had to be pretty scary for the Pittsburgh Pirates ground crew member who got trapped in the tarp. You try getting trapped like that when it’s pouring rain, not knowing which way is up, right, left or down. Like being inside a washing machine.

Quick thinking by Andrew McCutchen and all involved.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
