Jordan Zimmermann Rumors: Milwaukee Brewers Interested

Although the Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of trading Yovani Gallardo to the Texas Rangers, might they have a trick up their sleeve – perhaps trading for Jordan Zimmermann of the Washington Nationals?

The Nationals have been exploring moving Zimmermann for quite some time, something they’ll likely push for even harder after signing Max Scherzer to a seven-year contract. That’s why Jon Morosi of Fox Sports believes Jordan Zimmermann could be a Milwaukee Brewers trade target.

Moreover, the Brewers would have a better chance to sign Zimmermann than you might think. Not including Gallardo, the Brewers have five players — Aramis Ramirez, Kyle Lohse, Jonathan Broxton, Adam Lind, and Gerardo Parra — earning just shy of $50 million combined in salary this year who will be eligible for free agency (or on option years) after the 2015 season.

Morosi also notes the Brewers could turn their attention to James Shields, though seems to believe Jordan Zimmermann would be the preferred choice between the two.

Zimmermann is a native of the area and could very well like the idea of pitching at “home”, though it remains to be seen if the Brewers would be willing to part with the high-level assets the Washington Nationals would require in such a deal.
