Miami Marlins’ Ichiro Suzuki Pursuit Intensifying

Ichiro

For the past few seasons, Ichiro Suzuki has spent his time with the New York Yankees though that marriage came to an end after this past year. Now the veteran outfielder is looking for a new home and may have his eyes set on the Miami Marlins.

The feeling are apparently mutual as according to Jerry Crasnick, the Marlins’ pursuit of Ichiro is said to be intensifying.

With a relatively stocked outfield, it doesn’t seem as if Ichiro would be given a starting spot with the Marlins, something he reportedly wants. Of course, finding a team willing to give Ichiro a starting spot in the outfield is very unlikely and he isn’t going to fill a designated hitter role, so his best bet is trying to find a platoon situation. He’s unlikely to get that with the Miami Marlins as he’ll spend a good portion of his time on the bench or being used as a late game replacement, though he may not have many opportunities elsewhere as he looks to collect his 3,000th hit.

No deal is imminent though it’s not as if Ichiro is lighting up the free agent radar either.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
