San Diego Padres To Wear Throwback Brown Uniforms (Photo)

The San Diego Padres won’t only have a new look roster this season, they’ll also have a new look on the field – well – maybe a refurbished look as the team plans to wear their throwback brown pinstripe jerseys this season.

Sadly, much like some of their previous decisions to wear throwback uniforms, it will only be special occasions thing as according to the Padres, the brown pinstripe jersey will only be worn on five Wednesday day games.

While the Padres’ brown pinstripe jersey is a classic, I personally have to suggest they revert to their late 70’s look as that’s proven to be rather timeless, but alas the current selection isn’t that bad either.

If I had one recommendation though, it’s that if a team is going to implement a throwback jersey or even alternate jersey into their rotation, wear it more often. There’s nothing worse than hyping up a new look only to wear it for 5 of 162 games. Can we get it at least 20 times maybe? And if you’re going to pull out the throwback, why not have a home and road version? If you’re going for authenticity, go all the way.

The Padres, who perhaps are in a subtle way paying tribute to Tony Gwynn, aren’t the only team to wear throwback’s this season as the Seattle Mariners will do the same.
