For months we’ve been hearing rumors suggesting the Chicago Bulls would fire head coach Tom Thibodeau when their season came to an end.
That happened earlier this week after the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James sent them home yet again. Now will Thibodeau get the axe? It certainly seems that way. But if he does, who is going to replace the current Chicago Bulls head coach?
It’s been said that former player Fred Hoiberg is a serious candidate for the job, but according to Howard Beck, it’s current Golden State Warriors assistant and former Phoenix Suns head coach Alvin Gentry who is atop the list.
Didn’t get this into today’s story, but plugged-in source considers Alvin Gentry the favorite to coach Bulls. “The guy I’d put my money on.”

Beck isn’t a guy who just randomly pulls stuff out of the air, so the report needs to be taken with some serious merit. That’s not to say Tom Thibodeau will be fired for sure nor is it to suggest that Alvin Gentry is assured to be the next Chicago Bulls head coach, though it does sound rather plausible at this moment for both to happen in the coming days.
One thing is for sure – you have to think guys like Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah will be accepting of the change considering how hard Thibodeau is to play for.
