Chicago Bulls Rumors: No Interest In Doug McDermott Trade

Although the Chicago Bulls started out the season on fire, they’ve come back to earth recently thanks to a prolonged slump and the rumor mill has been churning hard for the past week. There have been suggestions of potentially firing head coach Tom Thibodeau. There have been trade rumors centered around Taj Gibson. Hell, there have even been suggestions the Chicago Bulls could potentially trade rookie Doug McDermott.

That’s not going to happen though, at least not according to Basketball Insiders who says the Chicago Bulls trading Doug McDermott is very unlikely.

Also, I don’t think Chicago would consider trading him so quickly. He’s only a rookie and they’re going to be patient with him as he develops, especially since an injury has limited what he can do (which isn’t his fault).

The Bull went above and beyond to acquire Doug McDermott after the draft and did everything possible to be in position to draft him. Given that, it appears extremely doubtful they’d even entertain the idea of trading him, let alone put him on the block themselves.

Such a decision would be nothing more than a panic move and one the Chicago Bulls don’t need to make as McDermott could very well morph into a solid NBA player.
