When Klay Thompson was hit in the head by a flying kick courtesy of Houston Rockets defender Trevor Ariza on Wednesday night, those who witnessed the crunch in real-time could see it was pretty serious.
The Golden State Warriors star fell to the ground, clutching the side of his face before rushing off the court. He eventually returned about fifteen minutes later, blood still fresh and oozing out of his ear.
It seemed like an obvious concussion to most non-medical professionals like myself, many of which didn’t even stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Yet, the Warriors medical staff allowed the guard back on the court.
That was probably a rather poor decsion considering Klay Thompson’s father, former Los Angeles Lakers star Mychal Thompson said his son was throwing up after the game and couldn’t drive home.

Yeah, that’s not good. The elder Thomopson attempted to downplay the injury later and suggested he just needed some sleep, which is pretty much the worst thing you can do with a concussion. *shakes head*
