Lakers Rumors: Rajon Rondo Wants To Sign With LA

About two years ago, the idea of Rajon Rondo wanting to play alongside Kobe Bryant would have been a dream scenario for Los Angeles Lakers fans.

Now, perhaps it’s a potential nightmare.

Rondo, who was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks in a trade with the Boston Celtics earlier this season, has been somewhat of a malcontent and disappointment in Big D. Now he’s reportedly ready to leave in free agency if the Mavs don’t make a coaching change and has his eyes set on the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Yahoo Sports, Rondo was preparing to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason before the trade (assuming the Celtics didn’t want him back) and now has his eyes set on the Southern California basketball franchise again.

When Rondo realized his run with the Celtics was over this year, he planned to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Carlisle banished him to the bench, choosing Raymond Felton over Rondo in the fourth quarter. Everything’s pushing Rondo closer to his inevitable free-agent fleeing to the Lakers this summer.

Depending on what type of contract Rajon Rondo would be seeking, perhaps signing the former All-Star point guard would be a solid move for the Lakers. Though it’s hard to imagine he’ll come cheaply and the Lakers could likely spend their dollars better elsewhere.
