Miami Heat Interested In Goran Dragic Trade

Goran Dragic

Earlier this week, rumors broke suggesting the Phoenix Suns would entertain trade offers for Goran Dragic and a first-round draft pick would be the possible price tag. Understandably, the Suns were likely inundated by phone calls and it’s likely one of those teams who expressed interest were the Miami Heat.

According to Barry Jackson, Pat Riley and company have long lusted over the point guard and expressed interest in a Goran Dragic trade.

An official who has spoken to the Heat said Miami very much likes Phoenix combo guard Goran Dragic, who has a $7.5 million player option for next season and is expected to test unrestricted free agency. But he will command more than Miami can offer (a midlevel exception) barring a sign-and-trade or a significant clearing of cap space.

Signing Goran Dragic in free agency seems rather unlikely, so if they were to bring the point guard to South Beach it would likely need to be in a trade. Of course, the Miami Heat aren’t overflowing with assets so that might prove to be difficult.

Regardless, if they could somehow figure out a way to get the job done, Goran Dragic would be a big boost for players like Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.
