NBA Trade Rumors: GM Says Don’t Get Excited Over Deadline

We’re just weeks away from the NBA’s annual February trade deadline and fans across the globe are hoping their favorite team makes a blockbuster deal to bolster their squad for a postseason run. But one Western Conference general managers says people may want to temper their expectations if they’re hoping for a massive trade.

Why? Because there isn’t anything out there, at least not according to one GM who spoke with Sam Amico of FOX Sports.

With Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green and Timofey Mozgov now all off the board, there isn’t a lot of “name” talent available. That said, there are still plenty of players around the NBA who could potentially be moved. There’s the obvious deals like Brook Lopez, David West and/or Roy Hibbert who could be on the move. There are also a handful of sub-par teams like the Sacramento Kings looking to move players like Carl Landry, Jason Thompson or Nik Stauskas.

Considering that, it seems a little premature to suggest the NBA’s trade deadline will be dead. It may turn out to be that way, but there are still plenty of names out there in the market.
