There may not be a more polarizing player in the NBA outside of Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith, not so much for what he does off the court (at least not usually) but for what he does on the court.
When on, few players can rival Smith’s ability to get hot and knock down difficult shot after difficult shot. Of course, he’s cold more often than not and when combined with his lack of basketball IQ, he ends up making a significant amount of poor decisions on the court including his shot selection.
All that said, J.R. Smith, who has previously won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award can be effective at times.
He can also apparently be the butt of jokes for Phoenix Suns fans who seemingly trolled the volume shooter as he came out of practice recently.
In town to play the Suns, Smith made his way to the team bus and upon exiting the gym was greeted by an absurd amount of cheers which was documented by reporter Sam Amick.

I can’t imagine that many people were so excited to see J.R. Smith, so this has to be a group troll job, right? Or maybe J.R. Smith has extended family in Arizona. Either way, it was oddly hilarious to see Smith, who was all but hated by many New York Knicks fans, randomly bestowed an absurd amount of love for no reason.
