Reggie Jackson Rumors: Thunder Likely To Trade Guard?

Reggie Jackson

When the Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Dion Waiters in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, many thought the writing was on the wall for Reggie Jackson. That includes Susan Bible of Basketball Insiders who feels that both Jackson and Jeremy Lamb are likely to be traded by the Thunder before the NBA’s upcoming February trade deadline.

With the acquisition of Anthony Morrow and Dion Waiters, with Alex Abrines and Josh Huestis waiting in the wings, I’d say both Lamb and Jackson are gone.

Multiple teams have shown interest in trading for Reggie Jackson, including the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings who all have a varying degree of interest in the swingman.

Jackson’s impending free agency combined with the lack of time to make a deal could reduce OKC’s asking price, though they’re still likely to command a pretty penny for the point guard.

A third-year player, Jackson has suggested on multiple occasions that he’d like to become a starter, something that’s unlikely with the Oklahoma City Thunder given both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are locked in to their positions. OKC could shift Westbrook to shooting guard while moving Reggie Jackson into the starting point guard role, but that likely wouldn’t sit well with Westbrook and Jackson would still be a third wheel at best.

It appears more and more likely the former Boston College star is going to be on the move.
